Privacy policy
Effective date: to be set at launch
This policy explains what information is collected when you use OnlineToolSpot (onlinetoolspot.com), who collects it and the choices you have. OnlineToolSpot is owned and run by Joshua Pyles in the US ("we," "us").
The short version
- Our calculators run in your browser. The numbers you type aren't uploaded or stored by us.
- You don't need an account, and we don't ask for your name or email to use any tool.
- The site shows ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to show and measure those ads, and you can control this.
- We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies.
Information you type into the tools
Calculations happen on your device. Your inputs and results aren't sent to us or saved by us.
Information collected automatically
Hosting and security (Cloudflare). The site is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site from attacks and abuse, Cloudflare processes information about each visit, which may include your IP address, traffic routing data and other information about traffic to and from the site. Cloudflare may also set strictly necessary security cookies, for example to tell people from bots. Cloudflare keeps this information for as long as its business and legal purposes require, and its policy doesn't give a fixed period. See Cloudflare's privacy policy and its list of cookies.
Analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics). We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages and tools they use, where visits come from (such as a search engine or country) and how fast pages load. According to Cloudflare, it doesn't use cookies or other browser storage such as localStorage, and it doesn't "fingerprint" individuals by IP address, browser or any other data. Cloudflare also says it doesn't track individual visitors across websites. We see only totals, not individual visitors. Learn more on Cloudflare's Web Analytics page.
Advertising (Google AdSense). We use Google AdSense to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's advertising cookies let Google and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet. These cookies may collect information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed and how you interact with ads.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google in Google's ad settings.
- You can opt out of personalized ads from many other third-party vendors at www.aboutads.info.
- To learn more, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
If you opt out, you'll still see ads, but they won't be based on your browsing.
Information you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply, fix the issue you raised or handle your request. We don't add you to a mailing list. We keep emails for 12 months after the last message in the conversation, then delete them.
Cookies and your choices
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. On this site, advertising cookies are set by Google and its partners, and Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies. Our analytics doesn't use cookies.
- In the EEA, UK or Switzerland, you'll see a consent message from Google, a Google-certified consent tool built into AdSense. Ad cookies are used only if you agree.
- In US states with privacy laws, you'll see Google's US state privacy message, which lets you opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information for targeted ads.
- Anywhere, you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The calculators still work without cookies.
To change your ad privacy choices at any time, use the privacy and cookie settings link at . Privacy and cookie settings appear once ads are enabled.
How we use and share information
We use the information above to run, secure and improve the site, to show the ads that pay for it and to respond to you. We don't sell the information you send us by email. Information collected by ad cookies is collected and used by Google and other ad vendors as described in their own policies. Cloudflare processes hosting and analytics data to provide its services, as described in its privacy policy. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Your privacy rights in the US
Depending on where you live, state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA, as amended by the CPRA) may give you the right to:
- know what personal information is collected about you and how it's used and shared
- ask for a copy of it, or ask for it to be corrected or deleted
- opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, including for targeted (cross-context behavioral) advertising
- not be treated differently for using these rights
Ad cookies may count as "selling" or "sharing" under some of these laws. To opt out, use the US state privacy message described above. You can also use Google's ad settings and www.aboutads.info.
If you're in the EEA, UK or Switzerland (GDPR)
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, here's the legal basis for each use of your data:
- Ad cookies: your consent, given through Google's consent message. You can withdraw it at any time. That won't affect use before you withdrew it.
- Security and hosting logs: our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and running.
- Cookieless analytics: our legitimate interest in understanding, in aggregate, how the site is used.
- Emails you send us: our legitimate interest in replying to you and handling your request.
You have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict your personal data, to object to its processing, and to data portability. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Google and Cloudflare may process data outside your country, including in the US.
Children's privacy
OnlineToolSpot isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has sent us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.
How to make a privacy request
Email [email protected] with "Privacy request" in the subject. Tell us what you're asking for and which state or country you live in. We may need to confirm your request before acting on it, and we'll respond within 30 days. Because we don't keep tool inputs or accounts, we usually hold very little about you. For ad and cookie data, you can also use Google's tools linked above.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the site or the law changes. We'll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll add a note on this page.
